Here’s an exercise you can do in less than 15 minutes and it could make a monumental different in your marketing and messaging this year. 

What words are you using? – and do they make sense for your brand. 

When we create marketing content, we tend to do a cover all the bases approach – that is mean as much to as many people people as we can wth colourful words but what we’re not doing is taking time to think about what intrinsic meaning those words have  

So here’s my challenge to you.  Last week I talked to you about being yourself and that you matter, well my next question and it’s a rhetorical one is, What is the BEST thing about your product (hint: it’s YOU!)?   

So what words can you put around your product that relate to your superpower?   

When potential customers read your marketing current marketing copy, will they immediately and without question understand why you bring to the table?   It’s ok if they don’t – but be honest with where you are starting and let’s see if we can improve it! 

Let’s do an exercise – together! 

  1. Write down some examples of what your main superpower is (not product or feature or benefit, but YOU!).

  2. ….Next – write down some words associated with your superpower.

And I’ll show you what you can do with those words! 

Let’s look at an example LIFE COACH who has just wrapped up their Masterclass and is sending out emails. Look at the different words that each has used for the SAME EMAIL and SAME PRODUCT!  I want you to notice the different voice associated with the same basic message. 

Superpower: Organization 

Thank you for joining me for my masterclass today. I appreciate that you *stayed for the entire time* and that *you made notes for future use*. To me that shows that you are ready for the *structure* that I am talking about.

Superpower: Empathy

I *understand* that it’s difficult to get out to these masterclasses and I *feel* full of *gratitude* that you took time out of your day for this. I want you to *feel deep* into your *intuition* and *ask yourself* if this is for your best self.

Superpower: Confidence

*You were amazing*. Thanks for *showing up fully* today. This course is going to be a *game changer for you*. From this you will be *confident*, have *clarity* and be *self-assured* whatever you do.

Superpower: Fun

That presentation was *so much fun*. I hope you *had a ball* today with what you were learning. Remember that *life is a party* but you have to show up *ready to have fun*. You are the *life of your own party*.

The point is to attract the customers that we want by showing them not just what we do but how we do it, ie our superpower. Let’s look at one more example.  

Let’s imagine those same Life Coaches above were writing an opening line to their About Us page… check out how it changes: 

Organized

What words are YOU using and do they relate to what you are amazing at?  Your tribe needs you so make sure you’re communicating to THEM what YOU bring.
